The Salvation Army Receives $1.7 Million Check

MODESTO, CA. (CBN) – The Salvation Army in Modesto, California has received a check for $1.7 million dollars. The gift came from Elinor Sauerwein, a 96 year old lady who lives a very simple lifestyle. She lived through the Great Depression and understood the value of the dollar and the importance of saving. The Salvation Army says her donation will help meet the needs of 100,000 people in the next five years. Most of the money will go for alleviating hunger and helping the homeless.
